A photography series aimed to document and convey the intangibles of flamenco that make up its essence. Focusing on the colours, the movement, the light, the facial expressions, I aimed to not just take still, aesthetic photographs, but to capture the heart and soul of the art that have fascinated many.
The Story
We were lucky to visit and be able to photograph the dancers at the "Amor De Dios" Academy in the bustling neighbourhood of Lavapiés, Madrid. A photography workshop by Anya Bartels, this experience taught me to trust my instinctive abilities to capture the essence of the moment beyond the stillness of a photo frame.
Through these top 20 selected photographs, I hope to tell the story and offer a glimpse into the essence of an art that has accompanied me through my childhood and that I carry in my family.
