CONNECT-ED: Digital Protection of Minors Online
Human-Centred Design • Social Impact
A human-centred design project that aimed to reduce access to p*nrographic content by minors in digital spaces. Following the design-thinking approach, we conducted thorough research and focused on defining the real problem before ideating, prototyping and outlining a social business model for our solution.

The Brief
For my IE Challenge, I chose a course on "Digital Protection of Minors" where we had to address an area of our choosing in which to make an impact. Our topic was sensitive, highly controversial, and highly researched, where awareness was not the main issue.
We knew we had to go beyond the obvious, beyond the shocking statistics, and build a clear picture that explained the motivations and flawed structures enabling the behaviour.
This was one of the most rewarding projects I have worked on. I enjoyed being able to frame the problem accurately after thorough research and ideating and prototyping a solution that felt actionable and meaningful. Receiving positive feedback from professionals in the area was the most rewarding part.

Skills and Contribution

Research and Analysis
Together with my team, we conducted thorough primary and secondary research. I focused specifically on expert opinions.

Conceptualisation & Problem Definition
I used various design-thinking tools (e.g. Iceberg model) to derive insights and accurate problem-framing.

Ideation and Strategy
Together with my team we ideated and refined a solution. I then helped craft a social business model and initial marketing strategy.

Project Management
& Team Building
I led the project and dedicated time to quality team-building, resulting in a very positive workflow throughout the project.
